Maine To-Do List: 2.13.10

Hooray for Valentine's Day weekend! Though we usually celebrate with a trip to Quebec City's winter carnival, we're staying a little closer to home this year. Here are some of our picks for a romantic weekend in Maine. Cheers!

Eat ME
There are so many great places to have a romantic dinner in Maine, but an evening meal at Montes in Bangor is a rare treat. This popular caterer, lunch destination and dinners-to-go place pulls out all the stops for V-Day with a five-course meal and live music. We love Carmen and Arturo Montes so much that we had them cater our wedding. Plus, remember what happened the last time you tried to roast duck at home? Leave it to the pros.
Where: 72 Columbia St., Bangor
When: Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 13 and 14

Drink ME
Ask anyone around. The Flirtini at Woodman's in Orono is unparalleled — and it's perfect for your Valentine. Having one on location is your best bet, but if you can't make it to Orono, try it at home by combining 1 ounce Stoli Razberi, 1/2 ounce Cointreau, 1/2 ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice, a splash of cranberry juice and a splash of pineapple juice in a shaker full of ice. Shake and strain into a martini glass. Float a few raspberries on top and serve. Repeat.
Where: 31 Main St., Orono
When: after 4 p.m.

Taste ME
Where to spend Valentine's Day? In Greenville for the Moosehead Lake Chocolate Festival. Select from 30 chocolate desserts, take the kids to the children's corner and bid on silent auction items.

When: Feb. 14

Watch ME

Is there any better V-Day movie than "Chocolat"? Watch it — and feast on a meal from Aurora Provisions, as Portland's popular FoodFilms series resumes on Sunday. And at the end, you can nibble on truffles from Dean's Sweets — talk about a sweet finale.
Where: One Longfellow Square, Portland
When: 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14

Dress ME
The perfect dress for the perfect night out? Something Beth Bowley. Bowley, a Maine native-turned-Manhattan fashion designer who owns 412 in Rockland, blends romantic prints with flattering cuts to create frocks that are sexy, elegant and infinitely wearable.
