Maine To-Do List 11.6.09

Despite those fluffy white things we saw in the sky yesterday, it's supposed to be a gorgeous weekend — probably one of our last for 2009. So get out, rake those leaves you've been meaning to get to and live it up. Here are a few suggestions for a great weekend in Maine.

Bid with ME
The artist roster for Maine College of Art's 35th annual art auction reads like a Who's Who of our state's contemporary art scene: Will Barnet, Katherine Bradford, Todd Webb and William Wegman (whose "Lean To" appears at right), to name a few, along with recent MECA alumni Nicole Duennebier, Shannon Rankin and Justin Richel. Bid early and often.

Eat ME
Fiddlehead restaurant in Bangor just changed its menu and it is so good you'll have a hard time narrowing down your choices: crepes with duck confit, spinach and artichoke Wellington or lobster risotto? Um, yes. Oh, and don't miss the flourless, dairyless chocolate torte. Heavenly.

Drink ME
We cannot get enough of Maine Root's Ginger Brew. It's spicy, sweetened with pure organic cane juice and just the thing for a Dark and Stormy. Even though the weather is bright and sunny.
