To Do List, 10.23.09

You need to rake. It looks like a tornado tore through your kitchen. And you still have about 100 flower bulbs left to plant. If you can tear yourself away, here are all the things you'd rather be doing this weekend:

Eat ME
Harvest on the Harbor is the event every foodie has been waiting for. Maine's top chefs, farmers, artisan food producers, fishermen, vintners and food writers will descend on Portland for demonstrations, presentations, tastings and wine dinners. Go on an empty stomach.
Where: Various locations throughout Portland, Maine
When: Through Sunday
Web: www.harvestontheharbor.com

Drink ME
Last weekend while in Presque Isle, we stocked up on The Maven's favorite tea, Lavender Earl Grey from Heidi's Tea Shop. It is so fragrant and absolutely lovely, it's worth the splurge.
Where: Merchants on the Corner, 394 Main Street, Presque Isle, Maine
When: Tea time

Spook ME
Bucksport has always been a little creepy, what with the witch's foot that keeps appearing on Col. John Buck's tombstone — no amount of scrubbing can keep it down. But this weekend's Ghostport celebration and Fright at the Fort (also next weekend) it will be downright spooktacular. If you'd like to do the Monster Mash, take part in a night parade or a tour of Bucksport's favorite haunts, you've come to the fright place.
Where: Throughout downtown Bucksport
When: see Web site for specific times.

Dress ME
It isn't exactly the Running of the Brides at Filene's Basement, but people have been known to get a little territorial over polyester bell-bottoms and Southern-belle ballgowns at Penobscot Theatre Company's pre-Halloween costume sale. The fundraiser on October 24 is a beloved tradition for costume-seekers from Bangor and beyond.
Where: Bangor Opera House, 131 Main St., Bangor
When: 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday
Web: www.penobscottheatre.org
