Root, Root, Root For The Home Team

After the weekend, the last thing you want to think about is beer, right?

Wrong. Especially if you're talking Maine Root, the yummy root beer got its start in Portland, Maine. While working at Flatbread Pizza Co. — and sipping the less-than-stellar root beer on tap at the time — Maine Root founder Matt Seiler decided to craft a better brew.

The result, sweetened with organic sugar cane juice, rather than high fructose corn syrup, is crisp and delicious, and a bit different from your average root beer. Some tasters attribute the unique flavor to the clove-wintergreen ratio (Maine Root is heavy on the wintergreen). We think it's because everything tastes better in Maine.

Goodwill: Ginger beer = yummy. I want to try the blueberry soda but haven't seen it up here.
Melanie: Only as far west as Texas, I believe...
