There was a stretch when The Mavens would stop people on the street, in bars, at restaurants in Portland and ask them, "Where did you get that amazing necklace?"Now, we don't have to ask. We know the answer: Willa Wirth made it.
Wirth creates jewelry that's at once delicate and substantial, but never fussy. Her swirls of silver dance in the light. They're solid. Kinetic. Sculptural. Which is no surprise: Wirth studied sculpture at UMaine and went on to explore large metalwork, welding and blacksmithing before transitioning to jewelry.
Today, she creates stunning designs in a beautiful, tiny studio on Congress Street. We're particularly fond of her Wave line, but everything she makes is gorgeous.
