Bowling. Bunyan. Beer.

Does it get any better than this?

No, Dude.

This weekend marks the debut of Bangor's Lebowski Bowl-A-Rama, a two-day celebration of abiding, lounge-singing, Caucasian-drinking and what have you.

The festivities begin on Saturday, July 4, with a movie screening and concert by the one and only Richard Cheese at the Bangor Opera House. Doors open at 6:30, movie starts at 7 and the big Cheese takes the stage after the fireworks. French Horn Rebellion will open. Tickets for the whole shebang cost $30 and are available at the Penobscot Theatre Company box office (www.penobscottheatre.org, 207.942.3333, or in person at 131 Main St., Bangor).

On Sunday, July 5, you can enjoy unlimited bowling at The Sports Arena (1640 Outer Hammond Street, Hermon). Wear a costume. Drink a White Russian. Just leave the damn Pomeranian at home.

This fabulous fest is brought to you by your friends at BangPop! Productions (the folks behind the BangPop! comic and pop con and the gamers' SnowCon). Oh, and the logo was designed by none other than Monique Bouchard, while the bowling Bunyan was created by Mark Ricketts. For more information, visit www.bangorabides.com.
