To-Do List 6.26.09

You've been hibernating for weeks, but now that the sun has made an ever-so-brief appearance, it's time to crawl out from under your rock, brush the mushrooms off your clothes and get out. Fortunately, there are plenty of excellent ways to celebrate the triumphant return of summer.

Drink ME
Rogues Gallery and Dogfish Head have teamed up to make a Maine-centric, limited edition summer brew called Squall IPA. Time magazine calls it a "Masculine-style with a nostalgic eastern seaboard feel." But whatever. The Maven is a chick, and she digs it.
When: After noon, please.
Where: We saw it first at Novare Res.
Web: Dogfish Head.

Craft ME
As if Maine's summer shopping scene weren't exciting enough, Arts Across Ellsworth rolls into town this weekend. Some of our favorite Maine artisans will show and sell their work, including Steve Desmond, whose Perfect Impression Gifts line features gorgeous end-grain cutting boards.
Where: upstairs from The Maine Grind, 192 Main St., Ellsworth
When: 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, June 27
Web: n/a

Listen to ME
To hell with San Francisco. The Maven left her heart in The County. Jason (husband of The Maven) is a Presque Isle boy, and we're convinced everything that comes out of the Country is fabulous. Case in point: the Arootsakoostik Music Festival, a celebration of roots, Americana and acoustic music in New Sweden that benefits local charities.
When: 11 a.m. June 27
Where: Thomas Park, New Sweden, Maine
Web: http://www.myspace.com/amusicfest

Eat ME
Say what you will about authenticity. Frankly, The Maven doesn't care. She's a little bit in love with the Taco Al Pastor — slow braised pork with grilled pineapple salsa — at El Rayo Taqueria in Portland. The slaw on the Pescado is quite tasty, too.
When: 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; 5-9 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday.
Where: El Rayo Taqueria, 101 York St., Portland
Web: www.elrayotaqueria.com

Shop with ME
We're totally digging the Orange Label by Alternative Apparel shrugs at Studio in Orono.
When: Whenever you're chilly
Where: Studio, Main Street, Orono
Web: N/A.

Hey! I saw it at Novare Res in Portland, but I'd be shocked if Burby & Bates didn't carry it — they have a comprehensive beer selection, and I'm told Swett's Market by the mall also does, though I cannot vouch for this firsthand. I'll do a little sleuthing and let you know.
