To-Do List, 6.20.09

Rain, rain, go away, come again ... in November.

Here in Orono, we've had enough of this weather. We're tired of the showers. Tired of our cukes dying a rapid and ugly death. Tired of wearing ugly raincoats (although, we're quite fond of our tomato-red Michael Kors trench). Until the sun shines, here are a few fabulous ways to pass the time. Enjoy, and stay dry.

Cut a rug with ME: It's no secret. We would drape ourselves in Angela Adams if it were socially acceptable. So the debut of the Archie rug (named after a cat with a big personality) is reason to celebrate. See image at right.
When: Whenever you want to feel soft wool underfoot.
Where: Your living room
Web: www.AngelaAdams.com

Eat ME: Usually, when we're in Brunswick, we can't quite make it past the hot dog stands on the green. But today, we're all about The Taste of Brunswick, which features tastes from 18 great restaurants, live music and a beer and wine pavilion.
When: noon-6 p.m. today (Saturday, 6.20.09).
Where: The Mall, Brunswick
Web: www.tasteofbrunswick.com

Drink ME: Last night, we had a meal in Orono that will live on in infamy, much like Pearl Harbor. We regret every cent we spent at the local "brew pub." And yes, those quotation marks are intentional. That being said, the microbrews that hail from Orono's brewery, Black Bear Microbrews, are another story altogether. They're tasty, complex and worth every penny.
When: Whenever, though we always suggest waiting until after noon to start drinking.
Where: Click here for retailers.
Web: www.blackbearmicrobrew.com.

Look at ME: The Maine art world is abuzz over the "Eat" sign by Robert Indiana at The Farnsworth Art Museum in Rockland. Even art lovers who aren't Indiana fans can appreciate the installation's diner-esque feel and the fact that it doesn't say "Love," "Hope," or any other four-letter words.
When: Through Oct. 25
Where: The Farnsworth Art Museum, 16 Museum St., Rockland.
Web: www.FarnsworthMuseum.org

Listen to ME: We adore Paranoid Social Club (um, hi, Dave Gutter?), and the fact that they're playing on an Isle of Shoals cruise Saturday night makes us love them even more.
When: 8-11 p.m. tonight.
Where: The boat leaves from Isle of Shoals Steamship Co., Market Street, Portsmouth, N.H.
Web: Paranoid Social Club
