The 4-1-1 on 412

Nothing makes the Maven happier than a new frock.

Actually, scratch that. Certain things do, but this isn't that kind of Web site.

Almost nothing makes the Maven happier than a new frock. So when we discovered 412 in Rockland, we were ecstatic. And, we admit, a little surprised. Sure, Rockland may be the fashion riviera of Midcoast Maine — Black Parrot led the way with its gorgeous offerings from Marimekko, Orla Kiely and Tracy Reese. But 412 is something entirely unexpected.

This impossibly stylish, impeccably edited shop is the brainchild of Maine native and Manhattan fashion designer Beth Bowley. Her partners in crime are Jin Lawrence (a Maven if ever there was one) and Sandy Crow (a former Anthropologie buyer). And their taste is spot-on.

Bowley's feminine designs have been featured in Lucky, In Style and Glamour, to name a few. And the other labels at 412 reflect a similar, elegant aesthetic. If you're in the market for something special, do stop in — the shop is located at 412 Main St. in Rockland, or online at four TWELVE. Even if you're just browsing, it's well worth the trip.

Trust us, it will make you happy. Very, very happy.
