Every Morning in Maine

Welcome. Bienvenue. Wilkommen. Bienvenido.

For those of you who have been following Maine Maven since its inception, nice to see you again. For the newbies — and those of you who are regular ShopGirl readers — thanks for joining us at our new home.

Before you start poking around, let us tell you a bit about ourselves. There are three of us: Kristen Andresen Lainsbury, Maven-in-Chief, writer and editor; Jason Lainsbury, who is Kristen's husband, head designer and Web guru; and illustrator extraordinaire Shawn Rice. We started this site as a way to highlight all of the cool things about Maine — not just lobsters and lighthouses, but designers and fashion and food and art. These are the things we love, and they're part of what defines Maine's quality of place.

We update the site each morning with hip little stories about restaurants, shops, products, personalities, concerts, travel, the occasional news item and whatever else strikes our fancy. It's the best of Maine, delivered daily. So visit early and often.

It looks like a blog now, but in the coming weeks, MaineMaven.com will grow to include "best-of" lists, destination guides for towns all over the state, suggested road trips and other content of interest for locals and folks from away.

We encourage you to look around and see what we've been up to for the last four months. If you have any suggestions for features or ways we can improve this site, please e-mail me at kristen@mainemaven.com. Ditto if you just want to say hi. You can follow us on Twitter — our username is MaineMaven. And pretty soon, we'll have a page on Facebook, too.

Finally, thank you so much for joining us at MaineMaven.com. It's all about ME. And it's all about you.

I don't know how I found you, but I'm so glad I did.

I'm a Maine girl living in exile in Illinois. I sleep, eat, drink, and inhale Maine on an almost daily basis. Your site helps me deal with being so far away.

Dreaming of the day when I can return permanently to my beloved Maine.

Wow, Kristen. Thanks for featuring me on your June 16 blog! I love Maine Maven and check it almost daily. What a surprise to see my own name there. Was it you who came out to interview a group of us for Dip of the Month Club on Islesford? We're still dipping!
Great site!
