Burn, Baby, Burn

We're not exactly the type of people who have a half-dozen candles burning in our house at any given time. But that's not to say we don't like the living room to smell like fresh apples or crisp pine from time to time, which is why we love our friends at Castine Candle — you can read more about them tomorrow, when we post a Q&A with the company's owners. The scents are fab — not cloying — and the packaging is simple and elegant, just the way we like it. For this month's giveaway, we're sharing the love. Castine Candle will give away four collections — fall, holiday, Man Cave (our fave, pictured above) and martini — one each to four Maine Maven readers. To enter, simply tell us your favorite Maine-made product, artisan or crafter by commenting at the bottom of this post, e-mailing us at kristen@mainemaven.com or commenting on the Maine Maven Facebook page. Want an extra entry? Suggest that your friends "like" Maine Maven on Facebook (and let us know about it). Easy-peasy, right? We'll choose four winners at random and announce them on Tuesday, Oct. 19. Good luck!

Love, love, love Fieldstone Farms jams. Their raspberry champagne and tropical strawberry colada are fabulous!

Choosing a Maine made item or crafter is not too easy. However having recently visited Sheldon Slate in Monson, and seeing the beautiful sinks and counter tops they create - they are my choice

So many possibilities, but Swan Island blankets are simply oustanding.

I'm a huge fan of Maine Sea Salt and I love Chart Metal Work. Oh, and how can you not love Sea Bags!

Ooh, Out On a Limb jams and jellies for sure. And Maine Beekeeper Honey and Aeolus's flying pig and ...

Is there a limit on this? I could go on forever and I love candles.

Green Tea Coffee and Tea in Lincolnville has an amaaaaazing chai. I think it is Masala Chai. It tastes like sweet India. If you could taste India and it was sweet, that is. $2 per ounce, but it's worth it.

Wow..it is a hard choice, but I would probably put Castine Candles on the top of my list...There smells, are not over-powering and the prices are reasonable...

Borealis Bread, particularly the olive. Unfortunately, it's not available in northern Maine, so I only get a fix every once in a while!

I love One Pie Company's pumpkin and squash. It always makes the best pies and bread. Castine Candles is also a favorite; their candles are very true to the name of the scent.
