Tripping Out

Dude. You are so trippy.

One weekend, you're off to Bar Harbor. The next, Sugarloaf. Then you're driving to Cornish. Or Presque Isle. Or Meddybemps — and yes, you know where that is, natch.

As Gandalf (and a bunch of hippie bumper stickers) will tell you, not all those who wander are lost. So why not celebrate your wandering ways?

Daytrip Society in Kennebunkport can help. This hip little shop carries all sorts of gear to satisfy your need to travel — and gorgeous homegoods to feather your nest. Owners Jessica Jenkins and Andy West have selected Maine-made favorites such as Swans Island Blankets, Sea Bags and Pinecone + Chickadee cards. But you'll also find eco-friendly goods chic handmade designs from around the country.

We can't deny the appeal of the shop's "members only" uniform: a T-shirt or track jacket emblazoned with the Daytrip Society crest. Very upper-crust. Very tongue-in-cheek. Very trippy.

If you're not in the neighborhood, you can order online. But chances are, you'll want to hop in the car and check this place out in person. Make a trip out of it. But if you start seeing three-headed sea monsters or if the sun starts talking to you, don't call us.
