Be Still My Beadin' Heart

This time of year, things start to get really, really crafty at The Maven's house.

She's been busting out Halloween decorations, and she's already thinking about what to knit everyone for Christmas. But ever since she visited The Beadin' Path in Freeport (love this place!) a few weeks back, jewelry is on her mind.

The Maven has been making big, funky pendants from vintage beads for some time now, and she can't walk by a bead shop without stopping in to buy a bit of Sterling silver wire or findings.

So it's no surprise that we're already planning to attend this weekend's Beads and Baubles Downeast Fall Bead Show — the first of its kind in Ellsworth. Organized by Christina Heiniger of Fern House Studio and Ginger Manna of Bella Colore in Blue Hill (one of our FAVORITE shops), the show will feature jewelry, beads from Maine glass artisans, as well as unique, vintage, and unusual beads from local bead shops.

The event, which takes place Oct. 2 and 3 at the Holiday Inn, 215 High St., Ellsworth, is part of the Arts Across Ellsworth initiative. For more information, call Ginger Manna at 207.469.2868 or Bella Colore at 207.374.5343.
