Summer Sparkles

Lately, our calendars are so full it makes our heads spin — three weddings in two months, an art opening on a Friday night, a museum gala on Saturday, a launch party the next week, then a music festival.

We're not complaining, but this type of schedule does take its toll. We're kind of exhausted, but perhaps even worse, so is The Maven's wardrobe. It's not like there's any lack of great places to restock — the frocks at 412 in Rockland, Studio in Orono and Bella Luna in Bangor are enough to make us wish there were a party every night. But The Maven is thinking a change of accessories might be enough to give her library of little black dresses an extension.

Clearly, Lisa Gent has the answer. The Cape Elizabeth-based jeweler creates party-worthy pieces that are at once exuberant and elegant. We adore her sterling and gemstone cluster earrings, which sparkle like tiny firecrackers. As she says in an artist statement, "I want the wearer of my jewelry to feel empowered and more importantly happy about who they are and inspired in whatever direction their path leads."

Right about now, our path leads out the door, in the direction of yet another event. And while our heads may be spinning, Lisa Gent's jewelry will ensure that we'll look good in the process.

Lisa Gent Jewelry is available at Archipelago in Rockland, Kennebec River Artisans in Hallowell, Handworks Gallery in Blue Hill, Wyler's in Portland and Brunswick, and Ann Veronica in Cape Elizabeth. For more information, visit her Web site by clicking here.
