Idol Pleasures

Here at Maine Maven, we're totally, unabashedly, irrevocably in love with "American Idol." There, we've said it. And we don't care if you think we're cheesy.

For the record, we never watched a single episode until this season. Kara DioGuardi, who is engaged to a former Orono boy and spends her downtime in her home in Prospect Harbor, won us over with her Maine ties and her no-nonsense judging (FMI, read Colin Sargent's cover story in Portland Magazine). We don't care what her detractors say. We love her. And we appreciate that her criticism is constructive without being mean, supportive without being gushy, and hip without using words like "dawg."

So we're a little bit excited that the American Idols Live tour is coming to Maine. Last year, when our friends were Facebooking about David Cook, we couldn't figure out what all the fuss was about. Now we can. And the idea of watching the three-ring circus that is Adam Lambert in the flesh is just enough to make us seriously consider buying tickets. The concert is scheduled for Sept. 12 at the Cumberland County Civic Center. Tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. tomorrow through Ticketmaster (of course).

You can call us cheesy. Just don't call us on Sept. 12. We'll be busy.
